The conflict arose after the death of the Sultan of Zanzibar, Hamad bin Fun, and the immediate crowning of a new sultan, Khalid bin Bar Gash. While the British weren't too happy with the arrangement and in consequence they brought about resistance, both sides fought. The war lasted a total of about 30, maybe 35 minutes
