CUNY was accompanied on his journey by about a dozen boats from the paddle casey paddling club. Club members served as a support team and helped to document the jury. Nebraska man Dwayne hansen previously had set the guinness world record book for the longest journey by pumpkin paddling a boat at at 37.5 miles back in 2022. Hughie's team has said that he surpassed Hansen's total by paddling 38.4 miles. The evidence from the attempt is now being submitted to the Guinness book of world records for the official certification
