A Lack of Imagination

article image placeholderUploaded by @Ukecurious
I've tasked myself with engaging with the work of black abolitionists as much as possible this year. I've been really reading a lot of the work of Maryam Kabba, charlene Carruthers, Patrice Colors, adrian Marie Brown. I've also been reading people like Audrey Lord and Lamar Rod Owens. I especially have leaned into reading and thinking about the work of these black queer feminist activists who are really reimagining the way our country could be. And it's a challenge to me

This is a song I wrote for white people 😉Let’s invigorate our radical imaginations so we can all hit our stride. #abolition #housingjustice #lgbtqia

We need to do whatever we can do with the gifts that we've been given to shake things up, to wake people up, to try to break down the walls that our capitalist society has spent so many years erecting between us as they try to turn us into groups. This is the white group, this is the group of color, this is the gay group, this is that group, and this is the educated group and this is the blue collar group and all of those kinds of things

This is one of those things that I need to engage my radical imagination a little bit more, I guess, because I know that even personally, I'm intolerant to a great extent at this point. I feel like I don't really necessarily want to have all those conversations anymore. I've had them for a long time. So, yes, I see what you're saying. I see what you're coming from, and I also I really wonder what the answer is
