Breaking News: Trump is Disqualified

article image placeholderUploaded by @tjh
They affirmed the district judge's other key conclusion, that Mr. Trump's actions before and on January 6, 2021, constituted engaging in insurrection, and that courts have the authority to enforce section three against a person whom Congress had not specifically designated. Now, what is that going to mean? If he cannot be on the ballot, how will this upend the election? Will other states rule the same thing? Will other supreme courts rule the same thing? How are people going to react?

Trump is disqualified from 2024 ballot

Not necessarily because I'm a fan and I want him to be elected, but because I felt that contingency of the american public that sort of obsessed with the guy, become even more obsessed with the guy. And that is something that you cannot discount too easily. I do think it's kind of funny how many of the far right leaning Americans right now are complaining about states rights or about, really, the verdict here when they're champions of states rights till their dying breath

And that's the language that I really think is fueling a lot of the division that I wish would stop because that really ignores the fact that this was a Republican filed lawsuit, this was by republican voters that filed this, and that it applies only to the 2024 primary ballot. Now, I'm sure it will have implications on the general election ballot, but that's not what we're talking about right now

@Phil. Thank you

But I do have a very important question. It's obvious now that the Supreme Court of the United States is going to be very busy over the holiday season because they're going to have to take this question up and offer some kind of ruling. I think they'll have to do so when they have to do so before, like January the second, January the fourth. I think that's when there are certain dates that will be important for when he can or cannot be on the ballot

@Taylor. Thanks for your optimism

But for now, I'm still very jaded and cynical and like, the country is on fire. What are we going to do? Someone put it out. All right, okay. Maybe I've reached the point like, hey, it's on fire. Who cares? There's no putting it out. Maybe I've reached to that level of cynicism. But maybe at least on swell, we can be much more unified. Diversity of opinion is good

However, if they did that, you'd see lawsuits pop up all over the country, and eventually they'd have to weigh in. So I think they'd just be kicking the can down the road. So I think they're going to be forced to take this case up, which means that they would have to render a decision by January 4 for his name to come off the ballot. His name remains on the ballot as of today
