Is There a Link Between Highly Processed Foods and Brain Health?

article image placeholderUploaded by @TheSimonShow
So the article starts off by saying roughly 60% of the calories in the average american diet come from highly processed foods, such as breakfast cereals, snack bars, frozen meals, and virtually all packaged sweets, among many other things, of course, is linked to unwelcome health outcomes, like an increased risk of diabetes, obesity, and even cancer. But more recent studies point to another major downside to these often delicious, always convenient foods. They appear to have a significant impact on our minds as well

But the fact that eating healthier can help decrease the risk of dementia, that says a lot about what we've been doing so far. Thank you so much for this. Bye

And what I've found is when I eat cleaner like this, when I'm not putting, I don't feel as bloated. I have more energy and I have more energy to go actually work out. Now, is that a byproduct of not eating processed foods? I don't really know, but I have to go with what feels right. And if I'm able to go out and exercise and if I feel better, I really should just keep on doing that

Of course I have to be careful of certain fruits that have high sugar content, but when I pair it with protein and fiber, it's been working pretty good for me. I cannot eat whole bananas anymore like I used to, but I can eat like a half of a banana. So it's different changes that I've been introducing atomically. I know I couldn't do it cold turkey because I am a foodie, but I've been making significant changes where I can see the results

Hey, Simon, thank you for posting this. Yeah, it's definitely pun intended, good food for thought. It's definitely something that we should really consider because we are what we eat, right. It's kind of funny because I had, well, not really funny, but I guess the timing of this have a couple students who are diabet, right? And so their parents are thinking, okay, I'll buy him these sugar free products, right?

Somebody told me, I don't know if it was you or somebody else. It's like, if you can't read it or understand it, it's probably not good for you. I'm finding how important it is being more conscious of what you put in your body, because a lot of times, even though it may be cheaper, it may not be better. So I'm still learning about all this stuff, still trying to exercise more, still trying to watch what I eat
