Assimilation: Why does this word gave do much power?
I am not putting down anyone's cultural beliefs. I love and respect all. I am just saying what I was told. That's it. Okay. Anyway, so grandmother has come to a few of the IEP meetings begrudgingly, and she said to me, why are you giving my granddaughter any services whatsoever? She is flawed. She doesn't deserve these services. Please give them to someone else. And she has said this, y'all, in front of the granddaughter and everyone in the IEP meeting
And yet humans do this all the time for different reasons, maybe, but all the time they would prefer to have blinders on and perceive the world however they perceive it rather than understand a different political view, a different sexuality, a different know, whatever it might be, instead of understanding. Like even people getting up in arms about saying, happy holidays in addition to merry Christmas. It's not about taking anything away from anybody

And sadly enough, I have to say now, her belief system was a bit more extreme, not going to lie, than some I've dealt with. But it's nothing new in terms of different belief systems that I've had to deal with, with a lot of my students and their parents and their belief system versus special education versus living in our society. It's like a whole thing. But, yeah, I agree with you
But yes, and I will definitely give her a humongous hug from you because children and humans are just absolutely amazing. My heart goes to children and animals. That's where it lies.
