Surviving a toxic work environment

article image placeholderUploaded by @TheMs.Leanne
Don't want to totally get into it, but I hope none of you are alarmed by what I am saying, because I do have a great support team, and I do have a lot of help, and I am looking for ways of getting out of the job, but I'm probably going to have to stay till the end of the year

I know I have a storied history of toxic workplaces, but, yeah, every place I've worked at has been an awful, awful experience. But this last one, it almost took my life several times. It done a lot of damage to my family. But, yeah, I'm still fighting, so I'm not giving up. So I don't think you should either. And, yeah, use your tools to deal with it

Like when I'm out and about with my students and I'm with their families and I'm advocating for them. I know I'm where I need to be right now. So yeah, I am definitely working on getting out of that environment, but unfortunately I signed a contract and they are holding me to it like ironclad. They're being total schmucks and will not let me out of it no matter what

It. You don't have to be a subscriber to reply to my swells, do you? I don't really post that much on the premium thing. Yeah, feel free to chime in anytime you want. You're always welcome. But, yeah, like I said, I hope that works out. I mean, man, it sucks that they're doing illegal stuff with kids. That's just something that should be addressed by the parents. But what are you going to do?

@RoosterCollins

Especially they're trying to make me the scapegoat for the boss, not having any special education training, not understanding the special education world, and me pointing it out that they're doing things that are illegal. And that's just tipped iceberg, dude. But yeah, I will definitely try to keep replying to your swells because I'm really glad you're on here. It's great to have a supportive community and kind minded people like myself. So thank you

But now if I'm inviting people it's usually to other people's swells. That seems to be more beneficial to everyone on the platform instead of me inviting everyone to my swells and then feeling obligated like you to reply, even though I do stay up in bed every night wondering if Miss Leanne likes me or not or if she thinks that I am dumb because you won't reply. I'm just kidding. I don't feel like that

Toxicity within sort of the staffing level is different, and I always kind of look to organizations to have some sort of wellness plan and events and things that kind of bring people together

But at some point, I would always come to the realization that you're not defined by your workplace simply because you work at a place that's not you. You have a life, you have dreams and goals, and you're much, much more than the place you work. So always remember that no matter how bad things get, understand that that's not you. They are making things very difficult and toxic at work, but they're not able to get to you

Thank you so much for your wonderful reply. I really appreciate it. Yeah. Where I'm working, it is from the top down, the toxicity. And it's really sad, you know, because it didn't need to be that way. And there's so many wonderful and gifted people that have just left ship. And what's interesting is, yes, they do send out surveys, but they're not really taken to heart

It. Oh, my God. Thank you. I can't even tell you how much I was laughing right now. I'm gonna spit out my drink. That was hilarious, dude. I loved it. Thank you. Yeah, I will reply. Don't worry to your stuff. It's just, man, things are so crazy, and I pulled in, like, 50 directions right now, but, yeah, I really liked what you had to say

Hey, Jeremiah. Thank you so much for that really lovely response. Yeah, it's something I really needed to hear, because intellectually. Right, I think we all know it's not us, it's them. But then there's the emotional side of things. Yeah
