On Love - by Khalil Gibran

article image placeholderUploaded by @theheartdrive
I really love this piece because it encapsulates everything that love has meant to me in my experience of it, we confuse many things for love desire, control, the need to claim, the need to possess. But these things, while they may accompany feelings of love, are not love. Love itself is free form. It has no particular shape. It has no expectations. So if you love someone, let whoever they are be as it is, perfect and complete

Chapter from the Prophet "On Love" read in a recovering voice… please forgive the hiccups. #khalilgibran #truth #love #timeless #prose #poetry

Oh, that was so beautiful. I think, if I may make a request, that perhaps you might do more of these readings. I have not read much of anything really you, but particularly Cahill Dubran, and this is a lovely way to become more familiar with his work, particularly as I know if I know these chapters or pieces mean something to you too. So here's my request

Go meandering in the beautiful words that are timeless of those who knew how to put them together and just sigh and swoon over how masterful their craft was and take some notes. I'll definitely always take notes whenever I read these, I'm in some way, refining my own understanding of poetry, my own aesthetic of language itself. So, yes, we will definitely do some more deep dives

I'm going to hear the chapter in friendship later, but right now you talked about love and how to leave this chapter and lose everything that life ought to be. It's a life lesson. It's about how love is to be understood. And you're right when you say love is misinterpreted as desires, puny small desires. Desires that come as divine callings as the souls beckoning, as the craving from deep inside to go out and serve and be off some consequence. And love that flows unconditionally
