Red River Rising - Author Husna in Conversation.

I've come across quite a few writers who have said that they've had to shelve books that they were working on for years for one reason or the other, or that they've had to take what was working and reshape it completely and start, sometimes even start from scratch. And a lot of writers have also shared that finding an agent and pitching your book to a publisher and getting it published can be perhaps the most challenging times of their lives

I always say that writing is the easiest part, but finding a publisher is the toughest. Getting your work noticed by traditional publishers is next to impossible. There are just a dozen out there who must be receiving at least a few hundred manuscripts every day. The math simply does not add up, and it's really, really tough for another new author to break that barrier. Either you need to be a really famous or an established author, or really have Lady Luck favoring you

Thank you so much for taking us behind the scenes of what really sparked the idea for the book and also for sharing a little bit about your publishing journey. I'm sure a lot of writers here would find it extremely valuable. One of the most integral parts of any story is the crafting of relatable and vivid characters. I feel in that context, all the protagonists in your book really stand out

The plot, as you said, shaped the characters, but characters like Radha, Krishnan and Mani, who were created as the story progressed. They, however, played a more dominant role in taking the narrative forward. And it was only when the story was midway that I did get a clarity on the exact roadmap. Until then, I just went with the flow, no pun intended. Okay, to your next question about my original idea and how it turned out to be
