Streaming

But yet these are the movies that they're kind of cranking out, raising the prices for and really trying to get the celebrities again. Maybe it's just me and maybe that's just what's happening. But just curious what you guys think of some of these major blockbusters on these streaming services that aren't great. Even Amazon Prime now they just purchased them GM Studios, so that could change the game. I think they're going to start getting serious

Has it gotten soft on certain platforms?

But for the most part, I love watching documentaries or movies that actually happen because I can learn so much more from that because the majority of time, all those big movies, the blockbusters, in some way, it's all the same. And I think it's the pollution of my brain. I don't watch movies on the TV much. I love to spend my time different. I couldn't care less all those movies. I want to feed my ecobrain and pollute it

So what am I doing? So when I look at it and I look at the big ones like Netflix and Disney Plus and HBO Max, those are the three I use the most. But there's so much stuff that I can watch on Netflix alone that honestly, I mean, Disney Plus I won't get rid of because of my son, obviously, and I'm a big Disney fan, too, but I could get rid of most of those and just keep Netflix and if I had to

Big difference. And I'm sure people even before us and their generations probably are like, man, the quality went downhill. There's speculation on as to why that happened. Apparently certain entities have bought up a lot of Hollywood. Therefore they have put forth their own projections onto the industries on how they want things to be. I think there's some truth to that that could be debatable, depending on the person you talk to, I guess. Hey Brandon, man, I hope all is well

But eventually they're all going to fall on Paramount. So if you want those movies, you either a have to pay for it to rent through US through Red Box or something, or you have to subscribe to Paramount to see them. So we're starting to see a lot of these shows and movies find their home on other platforms. And then it's like, okay, well, now you got to get original content. Well, that costs money

I agree, man. There's a massive change happening in Hollywood and the streaming services, there's a big shake up happening, and they're all streaming to figure out what the next generation of viewers is going to look like since the demolition of the movie theater platform or the cable network platforms as they go away. The dinosaur. We are looking at home theater, man, and home entertainment

And they tried to pack people in and they tried to raise the ticket prices. I think we need to get back to the point where it's like you go out to a movie theater, you can go out to eat, go to a movie, and it's a big deal. So those movie theaters, I think, will survive. I think there will be few and far, though. I don't think it's going to be like it was

I remember even when I was a kid there was one place that we call it the cheapo theater and we go there and you buy a movie pass for three movies one night and we make a whole evening out of it. We go like 600 and after we'd

But, man, you had a good time just hanging out in the movie theater, getting cheap popcorn and drinks, big giant drinks and stuff to keep you going. Try not to p*** while you. While you're watching the movie. That was a fun part of the movies, man. I miss all that. I know you do too. I know you have nostalgia, but you're nostalgia, so I know you missed that feel. I do

I mean, the smell of the movies, theater, the popcorn food, giant loud screen and the chairs. It was an event. And I think we'll get back to that at some point. I don't know if we will get back to that, but they need to get back to that if they're going to save that aspect of the industry. You talk about cheap theaters. Yeah, we had a movie theater in my parents'hometown southwest south side Detroit

@theaveragejoe Oscars?

I actually like the fact that now Netflix or Amazon or HBO can put out these smaller movies, these targeted movies. And I think that gives an outlet, as other people have noted, to actors to do other things. Well, it can be hard to fish through all this stuff that I understand. It's really hard to find things. That's why I rely on other people to introduce me to things and show me things

If you take those out of the income and the revenue that they brought to the industry, what does the movies theaters have? What does Hollywood have now? I'm not saying that every single and I'm a fan of those movies, but I'm not saying that every single one that comes out is a blockbuster. But they're ranking in the revenue to some degree. And I'm not saying that there isn't other movies out there that have been good by any means

And I was having conversations with other people online and friends, and they're like, you know, there are so many other great K pop or not K pop. Sorry, K like Korean dramas, TV shows, but they're even better than Swift Games. But Swift Games got so much momentum on the Internet. And I just think it's interesting when it comes to that because even like Squid Games, for example, was very low budgeted, but it was still very a great hit

You could subtitle it, and I think they dubbed it, but it was a series. And I'm like this got no love. And this was really cool around Christmas to have a different alternative to typical Christmas movies. But I think that Netflix is in a sense struggling because they have a lot of content. I mean, nobody can disagree with how much stuff is on there. I think some of their documentaries are great

So it's kind of awful because it's like they're going to fall back on. Like what they know is going to make money just like standard plot lines, standard franchises, instead of cranking out stuff that's new because it's just easier. And they know that it's going to make them their money back instead of taking taking a risk. So we've been talking about other swells, too, like brand new cherry flavor, like how it's different. It goes against the grain

And I don't mean a franchise like a Harry Potter, Star Wars or Marvel that's different because there's a lot of unique stories. But I think when you start to get greedy, which Hollywood does, then the streaming services have an opportunity to come up with some original content that might not work in the big Hollywood production level or theaters. And I think that's where they can win
