Whenever he had a meal, that is, he would share it with them. They were building a nest in his tree and would often bless him. But he didn't mind. And he washed with all interest as they went about, busily making a cozy nest for their children. To be watching the birds was a real treat, and especially when the female sat anxiously on her eggs. Waiting and watching was real fun

Ah, what a beautiful story. I must say your narration skills are way too excellent. Obviously. And we don't understand beggar. It takes a lot of psychological and mental analytical skills. Truly understand why a person is begging. For some people it's their business but for some people it's just like they don't have any option. Just like this old man we are talking about in story he doesn't know what he can do. What better opportunities does he have except for beggar?
