7. You can’t make an American Classic anymore

I personally believe that you can't make those movies anymore, and if you can, they are at the independent level, where they are not getting the visibility, the notoriety or the reputation for both the filmmaker and the content as much as it would have just 15 years ago. Now, what does that exactly mean for cinema? Well, in my opinion, that kills cinema, that turns cinema into an output where we are much more influential and much more appreciative of the commercial aspect of it

#editorschoice Film as a story sometimes talks to a certain audience. We want to talk to the world now. Thats an issue🤦🏽‍♂️

So these things became manufactured rather than developed and grown. And for other people, like Martin Scorsese, I think he wrote an article years ago, I think by probably the mid to late 90s, where he said cinema was dying. And this was in 1996, I believe anywhere between 95 and 97 is when that article came out

Part 3

But I think it's very odd to watch a film from the 1950s or movie about the 1950s and then want to apply your sensibilities of inclusion and let's make things better for it to obligate some sort of fantasy that we all tend to have now. It's a long and it's an ongoing issue that I'm starting to see, and it's growing

Part 4

The voice of the filmmaker, the voice of the actors. And the stories now are sanitized in a way, to where we see these films trying to find a home and trying to find an audience because we have more mergers than we used to. We have Disney buying up companies like Fox and eating up every single aspect of their exhibition calendar and their dates of release

So between the things that I tend to think about, the things that you present in these swells, the things that we've talked about in various conversations, we can see how much has been lost, whether we're talking through film or streaming or divisiveness or culture or the idea of home or all these different topics, right? I'm curious, like, I can recognize that there is an inevitability of evolution, of how things change
