They may have started as a hip hop group in the late 80s because of how young they were when they were already a prolific group, but I can remember two dope boys in a Cadillac, Southern playlistic Cadillac music, Quimini, Stankonia, all these different iconic hip hop albums that, oddly enough for me, are underrated, because a lot of times what happens with music is that a group can become iconic, but in many ways they're iconic for their presence because they're a part of the zeitgeist and the pop culture

Andre3000 released an ambient album, and the audience response highlights a lot of cultural issues👑

I really had to dig down and do my homework about where they came from, who they knew, their backgrounds, their motives and everything, because I couldn't depend on how the culture I knew shaped them. And I love that. And then bouncing off of them and the music in their circles and the things they recommended when I was in the New York City area. So New York and Philadelphia, I might go to small live music concerts or small performances of artists

I have a couple of friends that are producers that they really eat, sleep, and breathe hip hop, and I believe they truly love the genre. But I do believe, even with that, I believe it's something about not being able to branch out into another genre of music. And when I say branch out, I don't mean just old school hip hop. I don't mean British hip hop. I mean step out and go into quiet storm. Step out and go into neo soul
