Because completely sterilize my life from the physical presence of reminders that didn't remove the pain. Because you can't edit a reality to try and force healing. Because you can't fake yourself into being okay with what happened, but you can decide what you want to do with your memories

What you shared at the end about the memories yeah, I've been practicing that too, because I think for years, I definitely was more avoidant and push things down or try to be like, oh, that didn't happen, instead of actually sitting and accepting what happened and feeling what comes up for me around it or journaling or doing something creative to get it out right. And then accept it and then move on. But yeah, it's definitely not easy, and it's a journey
