Alright. So one of the first things we did was went to this Animal Ambassador showcase, where we saw a red footed booby. And he's in this picture, he was pretty cute. What did you think it was a girl? Was it a girl? Zula, Zula. It was a girl. My mistake. And one of the cool things that I thought was brought up is the fact that in the entire world there are only two red footed boobies in care, right? Yeah

Coral life

So I have to say that this coral Reef exhibit is awesome. It really shows you how important coral reefs are, the different type of coral reefs that exist in the world and also all of the different wildlife that revolve around around them. One of my favorite things that we saw on this particular trip is this amazing sea turtle. Heidi, what did you think of the sea turtle? What do you think of the other wildlife in the big tank that he was in?

So I thought that one of the coolest aspects of this coral Reef exhibit were the fluorescent coral that they showed. And I wanted to read this little sort of tidbit from one of the plaques there that explains what you're seeing. These corals absorb blue and white ultraviolet light and convert it into low energy light as fluorescence. The reason why is still a mystery. But fluorescence is a sign that these corals are healthy

Giant Japanese Spider Crab

I had to wait to share this one because if I spoke about it after my bedtime, I was definitely going to have nightmares. This thing is straight out of the scariest scifi movie you've ever seen. Straight out of your scary HP Love craft novels. This thing is known as the giant Japanese Spider crab. These things are big and apparently from leg to leg. If you measure across, sometimes you're you can get a width of 13ft

And they're talking about ocean acidification doing that and also maybe sunscreen. They talked about that and how important it is to zinc sunscreen. I think they have banned other kinds of sunscreen because that can take out the coral. Curious to know or hear if you learned about how to save the coral reefs at this exhibit, and if that was part of it

And actually, right before you walk into this exhibit, you get to sit through a pretty wonderful film that really explains what coral bleaching is and how it's harming the Reef environment. And then as a result, it's harming all of the other wildlife in the ocean. So really awesome job. There something that if you're in Long Beach and anytime soon, I would definitely check out
