Let's Talk About It: Hair in the Workplace

So I thought I would bring voice to an experience to make it real for some of those who may not have had a similar experience and also allow opportunity for others to share experiences that they have had as it relates to their hair. In 2009, I had an opportunity to support First Lady Michelle Obama's office on a campaign that was launching in 2010 in the midst of getting ready for a kickoff meeting for that campaign, which was going to be held on a Tuesday

And I have such an interesting memory of watching my dad dress, for working for the government all my life, and he worked there for 43 years, and I'm a kind of a free spirit, and I always didn't understand all the ceremony, the pomp and circumstance of him getting ready with his tie and his jacket. And that was just a young thought I had as a little girl. Like, he doesn't seem comfortable

There's about seven different forms. Some of them are some of them are what's the word I'm looking for? Some of them are treatable to the extent that you can return the treatment will return the hair back to its full, lush state. Others, such as androgenetic alopecia, that was my mint. Pretty much the treatment is hair transplant procedure

I developed intergenetic alopecia at age 28. The thing that Janet Pinka Smith has that everyone knows about now, I had it way back then and still have it today, and this is my hair. And I'm glad that we are making that transition and there's a level of awareness about it now that people can have open and honest and transparent conversations about it

And I am literally trying to find my voice, who I am, my authenticity, and to be that authentic person in every single moment of my life. And hair is an important topic where that's concerned. So thank you so much for that post

When I had my real hair, I had beautiful three C curls. And for those that don't know what that is, please Google. Google is your friend. And, yeah, anytime I would blow dry my hair straight, it was like, oh, my God, you look amazing. And when I had my hair curly, it would be like, oh, are you okay? Like, your hair is a little frizzy
