What do you do when you want to get "outside" of yourself?

Like, what can I go do that will make me feel better? What can I buy that will make me feel better? Nothing ever works. Like, you never feel better after you do something that you think is going to fix it. It's always a temporary fix and the problems or feelings are always still there afterwards. So I don't know, just sort of sharing where I'm at. I don't know what I'm going to do right now

You have to give yourself some peace of mind, some understanding that you're going to want it. And I think that makes sitting in that feeling a bit easier, is accepting that you're a human being and that you can feel this and that you can sit in it, you can make it. And this is normal to feel this is normal to want it

And so to add some, like, I guess actual action to that, you know, some suggestions is that I think you can do whatever you want. And I think a lot of the time it's mental prisons. You're not on that substance anymore. You are not thinking of it like you said. You're not desiring it. That is amazing. And you have already overcome it. You're already there. You just have to keep staying there. And you can do it

I'm currently helping a family member on their journey into sobriety and through recovery. And it's something that I personally don't have actual experiences with. And it's so important for me to connect with the feelings and the language so that I can help them and provide them with some sense of understanding that they're looking for right now, and they're early on in their journey, and I just might have to share this with them
