Now, for those who have ever read the color purple, you know that there is no way that a fifth grader can even begin to conceptualize all of the things in a novel that adult and themes that deep. But to give you an idea of how much I've always enjoyed literature and even my experience in reading, like just having, well, let me share this, I think, before I move on

For others, they've said it's a mix between Hunger Games, Game of Thrones, and divergent, but at any rate, I do believe it is a powerful piece of literature. The writing style for me was something a little to get used to, but it is truly a good book. If you all have read any parts of the Red Rising series or red Rising itself, I'd love to hear what your thoughts are without spoiling it

I haven't read it, but it is on my TBR and I need to tell you it's on my to be read list because I actually saw a review of it that was terrible. It was so mean. It was a YouTube review. It was so mean and so critical of just the whole premise of the story and the dystopian and the woman was like, it should be written this way and books like this shouldn't be written anymore

So I will say this, and not trying to offend, but a lot of people have picked red Rising apart for misogyny and not elevating more feminine heroic characters or female heroic characters, which in itself, in my opinion, is problematic. I think you go into this book wanting to be entertained and true to why we read, to escape, right? It's an alternate reality and wanting to just see things from a new perspective. And so I think it's great. I hope you read it

I absolutely will. As soon as I read this book, I'll reach out and let you know what I think. Yeah, I'm in my 50s, too, and I don't care. I read what I want to read. Please. In fact, I'm terrible. If you tell me I shouldn't read it, then I need to know why, so therefore, I've got to read the book. It. It. And it sounds cool
