Unpopular opinion: Travelling is overrated!

article image placeholderIs travelling overrated?
Traveling is overrated before you come attack me, calm down. I will give you more reasons why. So if you're someone who enjoys traveling and you really like it, you know, Disclaimer like this is not for you or not about you. I enjoy traveling as well, but it's mostly for visiting other particular places that interest me or traveling with people that I really like or having to travel for work. So why do I say travel is overrated is like how it is portrayed in social media

It’s certainly become saturated on social media.

You know, it would be easy for me to pick on those that love to travel because I can find a million flaws. But I understand this is them at their height of identity and experience, where the folks that tend to love to travel more often than not. I would categorize these as affirmation oriented people who are about results within the actions and how they Orient themselves. So these are the people that don't like to waste time talking about traveling. That's so boring for them

Great topic. Great conversation!

And when you give someone a pedestal to stand on, if they're not deserving of that pedestal, then that's kind of where the whole travel overrated thing is. I personally love to travel, and I don't necessarily love to travel to get woke or to understand another culture. Sure. I mean, I'm curious, but I'm not that curious. I travel just because I think it's neat in the sense of I'll go to say, Europe, and there are these historic buildings

Experiencing a place versus visiting a place

It's so nice. And I think that it's good to get experiences where you get to see a place that you haven't ever seen or you get to interact with people who you wouldn't otherwise interact with. But I think that visiting a place and taking some pictures and having a very tourist surface level, arbitrary experience is just simply not the same as genuinely benefiting from traveling to a place

Okay. Hi, Shaz. Interesting question to direct this at you. I will say this, and I've been saying this for years, and I sound like an angry ranter and hater of social media, but that's not the case. I'm just a realist. And what social media does is it creates a false image. You can be whatever you want to be on social media. I'm not saying everybody does this. I am who I am
