Some advice from Cicero

article image placeholderUploaded by @SensibleEnsign
Believe I shall feel nothing at all after death. Then at least I don't have to worry that they will be there to mock me after they die. If we are not immortal. Nonetheless, it is desirable that we should die at the proper time. For as nature has set the boundaries for everything else so, too, has she set the limits of life. Old age is the final act in the play of life. When we have had enough and are weary, it is time to go

Cicero? Wow!

I suppose I could find this book used. I'm not sure if there's many vacationers or local Mexican ranchers that read Cicero but here I am trying to assume something and that's probably wrong with me. So I'll go there. If not, maybe I'm a pause. But thank you for sharing this. You've definitely sparked my interest and I'm a naturally curious person so I love it when someone tosses me a little tidbit of beauty like that. Fantastic. Sister Row. Awesome

And I find it very helpful. And he has a book called The Daily Stoic, which is composed of one short essay and one short quote from a philosophy of the time. And I find it so comforting. I think what I'm really enjoying the most about it is the very basic idea of the deciding and realizing what is within one's control and what is outside of one's control and focusing on what we control, which is really not a whole lot

You. Well, thank you for your feedback, and I'm delighted that you enjoyed the little snippet from Cicero. Actually, I am a stoic. I have studied Stoicism since I was a little girl. I read Marcus Aurelius as a child. And I still read Marcus Aurelius every week. And, of course, I've read just about everything Seneca has written. And I am familiar with the resources that you mentioned as well. And I have about three Stoic podcasts on my devices

Okay, well, thank you for your feedback, and I'm very glad that you enjoyed the reading. I tell you what, you can get that book free if you search around on the Internet. A lot of colleges seem to have PDFs of it. It's such an old book that it's in the public domain, as I understand it. You can also get it on Amazon and I don't know where else
