A refreshing perspective on eloquence.

And so when we look at ourselves or others through the lens of eloquence, it doesn't have to be, this one is better, or this one is worse, or you think this about yourself, or you think that about that person. Instead, it's different ways that we've experienced life, moved through life, and different ways that we have grown to connect with other people. And then maybe we can have a greater understanding of one another, right?

You're just highly educated, and you're trying to communicate in the way that works for you. And when I learned how to speak a little bit better during when I was working in the corporate workplace, I was told, oh, you speak so well. And they'd say, oh, yeah, for an African American, that used to get me every time. So we can't speak well. We don't know what we're talking about

I enjoy it it and when I don't understand something, I make a mental note of it. Or sometimes I use context clues to figure it out. Or I look it up and

He is an author, does a podcast. Anyway, he keeps talking about racing to the top or racing to the bottom. And I think that when we strip away vocabulary words, then it's like racing to the bottom of communication. And if we keep vocabulary words, then we can elevate that bar a little bit. Just a little bit, right? Anyway, all of this to say, I think striking that equilibrium between self and advanced communication is really difficult

@Her_Sisu

So I'm intrigued about that. Yeah, I want to continue using vocabulary words, but every once in a while, you can see on someone's face or hear it in their tone of voice that it alienates them. And I guess there's a time and a place, right? For the most part, it's probably fine, but depending on the conversation, the context, then maybe it's more appropriate to at least consider either how many vocabulary words I'm using or how I'm communicating

Okay. Zale? I think I'm a little obsessed with Don Huley with The Day of the Word of the Day, from the delicious tenor of his voice to the words he chooses to the stories that he incorporates into them. Anyway, I'm enjoying and I am sharing in my stories as I want to do with things I find interesting. And I just want to say thank you again

Your laughter is so infectious. I'm glad you enjoyed his channel. I find him, like I said, entertaining. And it helps the word stick

I happened to attend a seminar in my college yesterday. So I am pursuing masters in one of the universities here and I had this seminar on What Is Success? Or Key to success. Or the secret behind success. And it was such a waste of time, honestly, because they said the most cliched things in the most condescending manner and I hated every bit of it. I had to go because my internal marks are riding upon it, so I had to be a part of it

@GreyMatter

I think then there's probably different situations of and also the topic you might be talking about with that person because then it's more important maybe for connection, right. Or really hearing them or really being seen mean by them. And sometimes if language can get in the way of that, then it's important to adapt it, right? I think it's all very contextual, anyway

But, you know, that being said, if you are describing something and you don't have a better word for it, let's say, you know, a word which is a little difficult or maybe on an intermediate level in common parlance, but still you choose to use it because that suits the narrative the most aptly

If you decide to watch it, just a warning. It is not the best of movies. Like, not high quality. It's definitely mind boggling, a reflection on society and so many things. Probably more so today than when it was first done. I know that that was the case even when I watched it six, seven years ago or however long ago it was. I almost feel like I need a refresher to watch it again on, just to see
