The new Clubhouse update; what the actual... 🤬
You want to create significant change in a structure that's already working great. But you have to make it seamless in a sense that people can get on board. I'm hearing so many people who are talking about leaving the platform and going to things like Discord or other places because this is something they can't even wrap their heads around. It is so different and so complex and it's supposedly simplifying things
Because instead of it being human first, it's the technology coming first and it's their idealized version of the technology coming first, not being human oriented and then having the other things fall into place. Which always is irritating when they do something like that because it makes it more complicated. At least it has in every other iteration. And this just seems to be an amplified example of that? I don't know. I'm still trying to wrap my head around it

And I'm only laughing because of how you were like, I don't like change. And I was like, I feel you. I feel you on that. But, yeah, I told about clubhouse a long time ago. I ended up on Clapper instead. But from what it was always described to me, clubhouse was more for people with disabilities

I don't know if you'd use other platforms, but I did try a lot of other platforms, and I don't know what it is, but Swell seems to be the only space for me that I personally like and like to post on. There's familiar faces. There's not an overabundance of I guess you can say, I don't know

Okay, so, see, this is why I ended up on Clapper. The Clapper app instead of Clubhouse was because on Clapper, um, you can have just audio. It would be a little bit more like you would have a room of people. Like someone would start a radio, and then people could jump in and out, kind of like as they please based on your settings on it. But that's the reason I liked it so much, because it was all audio and none of it
I'm not an engineer, I'm not in marketing, I'm not in business or any of those things. It's one of those instances of I love observing and understanding systems and patterns and I think of some of this stuff as all a series of interconnected patterns, so can't help but think or find the flaws in the systems and then how can we optimize this, even if it will never happen? It makes me feel better in my head. I don't know
And I didn't want to be an audience member, I didn't want to be on large stages. And so I found at the time a group of people, or at least a rolling group of people, that I could have smaller sorts of conversations, they would draw audiences to listen, but I could be a participant without there being a fighting for airtime and we could really dig into some ideas

I'm probably just going to delete the app. People that I've made friends with on Clubhouse, if they want to follow me, if they want to contact me, they already have my phone number and my Instagram. This is stupid. I need a bagel
So this first screenshot is of the hallway and it shows you the difference between a chat and a room and what they would look like. So the green arrow is pointing to a live room. There's a little symbol that it's pointing to that kind of looks like it's broadcasting and it will say now that is a room and you click on it and you go in and it looks just like the rooms did before
Okay, so despite what I read yesterday, chat is still available in the rooms. So I don't know what they were trying to communicate or what I misinterpreted or what have you, but Chat is still available in the rooms
If you have the app and you view it, you'll get a better idea of what's meant. I don't know if you can view this on the web or if you can only view this through the website. So I'm not exactly sure what this link is going to do. If anyone is curious, I did as well, I don't know how long ago now, wondering about the sun peeking at a certain color in the color spectrum and then the color of our plants
