This building almost looks fake, like it was generated by AI, but it is, in fact, real. It's in Milan, Italy, when I first came across it a few years ago. I've just been enamored with it ever since. I want to know more. I want to live in this building. I have so many questions. So recently, I subscribed to a channel that has a show called how did they Build that? And one of those episodes discussed this building in particular

I just don't know if it would seem unnatural, like, to have trees on a I don't know how many stories this is, but a 30 story building. I assume it provides shade and cooling potential. I'm sure there's advantages in terms of the energy usage. It's fascinating, but I wonder, after living in it for some period of time, if I would feel like it felt inauthentic in some way. I don't know

So I don't know the ins and outs, but because this building opened in 2014, we've now got nine years under our belt to see how this is doing. And I don't know about that. I know that they said that the design of the building did not come first for inclusion of plants, but instead they took plants and designed a building around the plants, which was really interesting. It's not just for humans and their desire, but also for the benefit of the plants

You. I will definitely check out that show and sent it to my husband who's a commercial builder. My dad, who's both a residential and commercial. He's retired now. But my husband and I are really into sustainable design. Our our previous home was all customized with reclaimed building materials, sustainable building materials. It was passive solar. We used all local materials. So that is definitely one of my passions

But I did see a video on YouTube that was talking about, is the vertical forest sustainable? And I watched part of it, but it was essentially spending all of their time pointing out all of the negatives and they were super reductive. And then I was just like, okay, well, what about this? What about that? And I got annoyed with it, so I just shut it down
