Why our history with age discrimination MUST change.

And I think that this is one of those instances we haven't had to move with, as in much intention and thought, accountability, responsibility, et cetera. But now we have tools in our hands that make it even more imperative that we do. Nearly everyone has a platform. Nearly everyone can say whatever they want to say and repeat whatever they've heard someone else say or repeat. A newspaper article, a news clipping, a video, whatever, and it expands on itself, expounds on itself

Generational Abuse. Youth is wasted on the Young.

And I'm going to start to pay attention to actual examples of how this is playing out in my community because I think I've seen it, I've heard it, and I know exactly what corner I'm going to start. Yes, the leadership corner. You have just really excited my brain about this conversation. It is a generational conversation. It is passing baton conversation. The idea that we are completely just doing that thing to our youth, the outcome of that is beyond scary

But I agree 1000% with you, only because we have to look at the changing times. Sometimes I catch myself judging the music of today, but I always preface by saying this is my opinion. I'll start with saying that it's my opinion. Certain type of music I can't vibe with today. However, there are a few from this generation who have great music that I can vibe with because I don't want to have my words to shoot someone down, their self esteem down

Where were their family groups, their grandparents, their parents, their relatives? Who, who raised them? Who taught them these things? Did they just absorb them by osmosis? Were they born this way? That is always, when I hear these things about, well, this generation, I don't tend to go, well, yeah, this whole generation is throwaway, I think, well, who raised this? You've probably heard, maybe it's on YouTube

Anyway, I'm digressing here, but, yeah, I think with the advancement of everything that's happening so quickly, there's so many things that we have to redefine, reimagine, and recreate moving forward, and it's happening too fast for us to really catch up almost. And yeah, I've been reflecting on a lot of that this morning, but I'm refraining because I could go on and on. Anyway, thank you for your thoughts

On the other hand, they are learning so much that they're almost on the fly redefining certain things. So, for example, you can see and learn all sorts of information around psychology or raising children, whatever the topic might be. And so then there's different decisions being made going forward based on what they want to do instead. And yet you'll still hear older generations saying they're talking about a made up concept or a made up idea that isn't real, except that it is real

I would say the same technology can go the other way around. The younger people are using the technology for their platform, for what they have to say, for their thoughts and for their being smart. And it is a shame that the media in general bombards everyone with images and, you know, photoshopped pictures in fashion magazines, et cetera. There's all of that the media influence and the media impact bombarding on our psyches

@Isoellen

And I can just hear the argument now where a parent might say that there are other factors involved in raising kids, the environment, the media and so on. I completely get it and I agree. But there's also the responsibility of those who raise them, those around them, and really how you raised your kids in relationship to these other things, the media, for example, or social media or the technology. Right

Hey, Christina. I had just added the social dilemma to my Netflix. I bookmarked it or whatever, saved it, and I watched maybe the first half hour of it. And I absolutely. I'm fascinated by it. I'm absolutely fascinated by it, because when I was reading the book stolen focus, the author mentioned one of the guys who used to work at Google

You have to give them room in order to fall and make those mistakes and learn from them and how that affects them in every facet of growth and being. And so also, when I see videos on, or even look back on how things were when I was younger, there wasn't as much of an understanding around psychology or even relationally, how to do, what's the phrase? Conflict resolution. That's it

It's on YouTube. I've put a link here. It's also fascinating in that way, but also disgusting to see how large language models are going to influence us and, yeah, really powerful stuff. Parenthetically, I learned about the different types of empathy when I had heard over and over and over again that autistics don't experience empathy, let alone show empathy. And I had interacted with enough autistics to know that that wasn't true
