You remind me of a short vignette that turns up in one of the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy books by the brilliant Douglas Adams. And I've told this story so many times because I just think there's so much in it. So the story starts with an argument between Arthur Dent and some of the guy just in the pub down the road on Earth. And one of the words I forget what it was like say one of the words just at the moment you spoke it
