Where, when, & why; humanizing/dehumanizing language?

I'm really curious about why this happens, why people do this. Admittedly, I've seen it happen with men more often, but I've seen women do it too, where let's say a man is talking about men and whatever the topic is. And when he refers to women, then he'll say females. And in the case of a woman, sometimes she'll be talking about women using the word women, but then when it comes to men, she'll say males

If you're referring to a woman who is a female, which I thought it was so confusing, then you should say woman or lady or girl or whatever, but not say female, that they assign that as being derogatory or negative. And like I said, it blew my mind because I honestly have no ill intent when I use either male or men or female or woman, they, for me, in my head, are interchangeable

And so that seems to fit there because there's like manhood wrapped up in the word man in that space. I sometimes wonder when we get hung up on a word being used in a way that we don't like that it's maybe not the word itself, it's just the context. It's the way that it's being used rather than the word itself that really matters. That was a really stupid thing to say because that was really obvious anyway

Cold and to the point

And I know there's, like, significant other and domestic partner, and those almost feel a little cold. To me, domestic partner sounds like almost like a buddy cop thing. I mean, I know what it is, and I get it. And it's on a lot of, like, insurance forms and things like that. But I think that terminology is still being used

And so it's this other instance of I am woman, you are male. That's really weird to me, even before we get into the nuances of gender or identity, I should say sex or gender identity. So, for example, I heard somebody the other day talking about something they thought was predominantly a man's space, something that men enjoyed and appreciated. And then they went on to say, and even some females liked it
