Are you not entertained?

It's an easy one to watch and I like it. I always say the best documentaries are the ones that find that sweet spot between filmmaking and subject. Matt, for this one, I definitely say subject matter is more what drives it. The filmmaking is good, but one of the things that the filmmakers do that I've never really been a fan of when it comes to documentaries is they kind of put themselves in the show

The latest 30 for 30 is a fun look behind the scenes of American Gladiators. #documentaries #30for30 #sports

I'm thank you for this post. It gave me such a smile because I have not thought about American Gladiators probably in two decades and now I'm really interested to go and dig up this documentary. I also agree with you when it comes to documentaries, when they show themselves and kind of become the characters. Now, I do like the narration. Like when you choose a good narration and you have one person and one voice that's kind of help guiding you through their thought process

And, yeah, if you ever have any recommendations for me or want a recommendation when it comes to documentaries, feel free to reach out. It's definitely something that I have not been doing as much as I used to, but I still very much love watching these films. And I think you said it very well when you said educated and entertained. I think that's something that sometimes you want to just be entertained, but sometimes you do want to learn something new

And it's interesting to hear what you mentioned about the co creators and how, I guess one guy is trying to take the credit for it. I'm wondering if in the documentary they mentioned this, but I always assumed that American Gladiator was an idea that was straight ripped from the film The Running Man with Arnold Schwarzenegger. Am I wrong? Been thinking that because it seems almost identical. Let me know. I'm definitely putting this on my watch list, though. Thank you

But there might have been a part that I just wasn't paying close attention to in the beginning because I'd be interested if the Running Man aspect inspired how they kind of, like, came up with the aesthetic for television. Because what they were doing in Erie before they brought it to television was far different. And that is when I believe it's, johnny Ferrara took the idea from his friend and tried to sell it to television
