A computer update is not a free mug

It is ridiculous. I wish I was making that up. And I was just thinking about how common that is in the software world now that you don't expand something and then offer me the choice of using it. You just decide, okay, now there's going to be reels at the top of your page, and you can't turn it off now. We're going to do this, we're going to do that

Hi Romie. So I had to respond to this one. I have somebody who has been building software products all my life. And perhaps more to the point, I was actually part of the Microsoft Windows User experience team long time back, my career in late 1990s. And the features that were added, I mean it was the thinking there was never about giving freebies to your user. It was always about making your user more productive, right

They're trying to figure out how can you have a captive user base, how can you extract more from them? Like, we've seen Adobe do that, which has been really disappointing. But what you say you did really make me think in terms of why would you move and have a second user bar along the right side of the screen? And it occurs to me it's because a lot of people are using tablets now

Hi, Romie. I just came across this article. Microsoft is changing the functionality of the print screen button after almost 30 years. I thought it was interesting in the in the light of the conversation we were having

I thank you for following up. I'm so pleased that you thought of me because, of course, I do care about the functionality of the print screen button. I'm such a dinosaur, I guess, but, like, dinosaurs are cool. I do definitely still use the print screen. And the old version of Microsoft Paint is normally where I then paste it into. And I have gone to this snip and clip tool. I can't remember what it's called
