Visitor worship at hotels is problematic and makes me uncomfortable 😖
But I'd like to talk about something that has particularly bothered me in the past, and it continues to and that is the fetishization of this subservient of hospitality staff. And if you notice the higher price the hotel is, the more subservient is expected of the staff, right from garlanding visitors to staging grand welcomes. I mean, what has the guest even done to have earned this kind of treatment apart from paying for their stay, which supports the business?
