But then she went on to tell me that her son in law was a narcissist. Now, over the years, I've run into plenty of mother in laws that insist their son in law is a narcissist. So I was apprehensive. But this woman was different. She provided a level of detail about narcissism that I commonly don't hear. She even pointed to some research that was out there in the field. I started to believe that maybe her son in law was actually a narcissist
So many things stood out to me in this piece, but one in particular I think was particularly confronting, but in a really good way. And that was along the lines of seeing people in a sort of superficial way or in a packaging that one would prefer. And this is so quote unquote normal that I don't think we even reflect on this
And they learn to have a 6th sense for detecting the vulnerabilities that underlie hate. So as a society, if we only focused on behavior, we could eradicate narcissism and psychopathy and sociopathy entirely in this country if we focused on behaviors. But hate and narcissism have always been close bedfellows, and you cannot address narcissism without addressing the foundation upon which it stands on, and that is hate. And we all have to look within and ask ourselves, where do we stand in that foundation?

It can look like hate and it can act like hate, but at its core, it is not specifically hate. I think when we're talking about, like, Donald Trump, he is definitely a narcissist. I'm not going to even debate that. But where he is a problem isn't necessarily his narcissism. It is where he is not empathetic towards other people who are harming people in his party, or the people in his party are harming others
