Abuse of Power and Failure to Act Within the Police Organizations - Your Thoughts?

article image placeholderUploaded by @Renee_Slay
Also took me to jail because after five and a half hours I flipped my s*** on them. To be honest. I told them what I thought of them in not so nice terms, standing in the apartment parking lot. This story is probably going to go longer than the five minutes, but I'll just do a response as well and I apologize for that. I didn't really think I was going to dump all my info out there, but here we go

And telling is one of those things. Telling on another officer, they're not stopping. Things that are happening as they're standing there, they either turn their backs or participate. That's not okay. Cameras are supposed to help, but the thing is they have the option to turn them off. And then you've got chief of police or mayors or on up the chain that are also abusing power because we've seen that too. So what is the answer?

America breeds bullies sometimes🤷

We can't be putting a lid on our own journeys. We should be able to express that freely. So I am sorry that you have went through that with the law, and it's definitely made you a stronger person and has given you even greater wisdom and knowledge about the system. What I want to touch on is about bullying. I know other countries have their issues. Every country have their issues

But what we have going on here is a patriarchy that is built upon hierarchies and systems where white and male is at the top and other or black and female is at the bottom. And it's a lot of this separation and hierarchy that caused plenty of the problems that we see today. Now, pertaining to police, it's a bullying situation and a display of aggression situation

So maybe that's just the first step in a long line of change that I'm hoping for. Thank you again for commenting on this and I hope you see some of my other swells and choose to comment as well. I did one, as a matter of fact, on bullying as well. So I like hearing from you. You always have a very good response. Thank you

But there's none of that in the police force, or at least limited amounts of it. Or at least if it is there and I'm unaware of it, having very limited knowledge of the ins and outs of police work apart from fictional stories, they're not using those checks and balances in an effective way because, again, they're having to use these other methods of manipulation or control

Like, they get in these groups and the police become a pack, and instead of stopping behavior that they would not normally do. And I believe there's some psychological articles or psych articles on this type of behavior, but it's a pack mentality. When they get into the pack and one is doing wrong, and even though that person normally by themselves would not do that, it becomes acceptable and they join in on the behavior. It's just sad

@Renee_Slay 🤯🤮😭

But it would never fly in reality because it disrupts all of the hierarchies that people really value and the power dynamics that people value and somehow finding personal worth wrapped up in hierarchies and power and so on. And yet, if we could somehow separate ourselves, our worth, and who we are from these other things, how much different would that world be?

You, Renee. Thank you so much for posting this. This is your girl. The lowly speaks. I definitely am interested in responding to this. I do come from a family that is I want to say criminal justice system. I don't want to necessarily say all law enforcement. I have family that Renee, from military down to detectives down to corrections, know a little bit of each

You. Yes. And again, you are so correct. And I love that this affects you so much. It shows me your heart, which is awesome. The whole flip around with society. Good idea

So they knew I had insurance, but I was late to work danger every time they saw me in downtown. So just what a nightmare system. And it doesn't stop with just the police because if you look above that and you do enough research into it, it is the chief of police, the mayor getting out of tickets, getting their daughter out of a DWI, it trickles down and they're seeing the corruption from those above them. So why wouldn't they act without conscience?

@Renee_Slay

Okay, thank you so much for this. I've brought this topic up several times over the years and you are the first person to point out that this could go completely opposite direction than I had anticipated or hoped. I guess I'd like to think that when people are exposed to different situations and different people that maybe empathy can come into play or compassion or understanding in some sort of way. But you're absolutely right, that doesn't have to necessarily go that way

It's first. I'm glad you mentioned that because I've wondered why it's not showing who I'm addressing in there. I'm actually on an Android phone. I'm on a Samsung, so I don't know what the heck the problem is. I wish it would though. Okay, on to the next thing. Yeah, I think you would get some of your people that actually got the less in it if they reverse roles. And then you would have those that didn't
@SeekingPlumb

@Renee_Slay

Like I'll hit the play button on audio in Swell and for whatever reason, there's no sound coming out of of the phone, no sound coming out of headphones or earbuds or anything like that. And if I not only close the app but reboot the phone, then it solves the problems within Swell. And so maybe it's just one of those weird things that the only answer is to reboot and it will fix everything magically. I don't know

It's. Okay. So I did it. I did the thing where you go to the other screen, where you go to the description and you do the at symbol. And it showed me nothing, and so I knew that the beginning of yours was seeking, so I typed in the when I started typing in that, I got to se, and then it pulled up some s's. So I guess I have to know the first few letters to type in, but this will help

And I want to say it's us, the people, but it's us, the people. It's us, the people who decide to take jobs in law enforcement. It's us, the people who, when we become a part of these systems and organizations, that we do the work necessary to be respectful, grounded, fair, unbiased, and willing to serve and protect. Like, d***. The first word of your d*** oath is serve and then protect

I agreed. Agreed with everything you said. I just wish that there was more that we could do. But you're right, I guess just keep praying and speaking on it. I hate that it is what it is. But this ain't the only thing that I hate what it is, what it is. Really wish there was more we could do. But thanks for thanks for getting in on this conversation. And anything else you want to add on any anything I post always available to you
