Viewing God through the lens of our parents… A poem: God is…

So I projected those things onto God. When life wasn't going good or people who claimed they were Christian hurt me. I felt like God was being cruel and even bullying me. In the infancy of ministry, when things wouldn't go the way I was expecting or people were so demanding and judgmental, I felt like I was being used by God, like I was only God. For one thing, when my uncle adopted me, we were at church every time the doors were open

Have there been times in your life where you have viewed God through the lens of mortal man? How has that impacted your relationship with him? Or perhaps you wouldn't consider yourself to be in a relationship with him at all. Can you see where maybe this is why? What was your childhood like? Did you feel loved, wanted, accepted? Did you have parents who listened to your needs, validated you, or were dismissive and judgmental even. Did you grow up feeling secure and confident in relationships?

I pray that God heal those hearts and heal those wounds that have been left from not having that earthly parent. It's so important. And when kids are young, it takes some time for them to realize just how much they need a father

And, you know, with all the traumatic things that occurred to me, the one that was the most difficult was being away from my mom. I felt like I was walking around just bleeding from this gunshot wound to my chest without her in my life. And even though our relationship was not healthy, because most of the time I was forced to mother her through her addictions and her own wound, she suffered from just being in the sinic world

You. I'm so sorry what you went through. I know how you feel about not having a father's love. My father died when I was one month old, so I never got a chance to get to know him. And my stepdad really never showed my sisters and brothers and myself any kind of love or affection. He was just for my mother, only her. So we didn't feel love at all from a father
