He exercised this idea every single night regardless how dark his life was in the prison the character Red knows his escape plan and comes to the realization of he gets these flashes of possibilities how his life could be if he had aspired to have a life of purpose and this made and the due frame to set free he crawls through 500 yards of city pipeline and eventually yields his freedom he meets Red outside the prison and that's where the movie ends

But once someone loses hope, that's when things start to unravel completely. And that's when, you know, everything comes at a standstill. And that's a very undesirable position to be in. Right? So, yes, I absolutely agree with whatever you said, that hope is the premise of the movie and hope is what keeps life going
