After the initial shock had worn off, it was still very tough, and it's still tough today. But I'm lucky enough to have great friends that have talked to me about it and told me they're not really gone. They're still with you. And that really is the truth. I start noticing just how much of a part of my life that he was, how much I am him, and how much he was me

One year ago I got the call from my mom that I'll never forget

#grief #parents #gratitude

It took me a minute to understand some of the ways that grief and sadness showed his face to me as I was dealing with my mom no longer being with me in the physical sense. The times that I wanted to reach out to her and pick up the phone, the times that I did pick up the phone before I realized that it wasn't her that I could call like that anymore, the times when people would call me to check in with me
