World Cup: Group A Open Discussion

article image placeholderUploaded by @Phil
And that zero zero tie and their lack of actually scoring goals kind of concerns me into this tournament. However, like we said in the Group of Life, you know, they don't have to beat much to actually get there. The host guitar, they're trying to avoid becoming only the second host nation to be knocked out in the first round. Now. They did win the AFC Asian Cup. They beat Japan in the 2019 final

These are really fantastic players that I would trust in my team. Even though they're Chelsea players, I think they're really fantastic. Now, they recently took a massive hit, probably one of the biggest hits any team has had leading up to this tournament in that their star player, Sadio Mane, picked up an injury leading into this World Cup and will not be playing for the team

And for personal reasons, I can't wait to see them crash out in the very, very first stage of this World Cup. I think it was an inevitability, although I don't know that it's going to massively disappoint anybody over there because I think the goal for the nation was not to necessarily perform well in the World Cup, but was to acquire funds and backroom deals and things of that nature. I mean, we know how deep the corruption runs

Qatar didn't look great in Game 1

They look great, but I think any team going to look against look good against that level of competition when that when that talent disparity is that great. Big games tomorrow. Glad we got kicked off, but pretty uneventful first match here

@Phil

One of the things that's really interesting about this Qatari side is and I didn't really know the extent of this going into the tournament, but I found out that this is a team that functions, unlike most international teams, where the players are performing for club teams, oftentimes in different countries from their home nation. In this case, a lot of these guys work and train constantly throughout the year together

It's going to cause a lot of problems for them. But anyways, now we're looking forward to Wales versus the US Men's National team. We'll see how it goes

@Taylor

Yeah. Taylor, first of all, apologize for background noise. I wanted to come to a restaurant to watch the US. Play and, you know, when I read that Senegal gets a lot of shots on goal, my first reaction was, I bet they get a lot of shots on, but they're not quality shots. And that's kind of what I thought, how it played out

@Phil

I mean, even when they don't think that the chance is going to go in, they're probably going to have to take a gamble from time to time, because otherwise I just don't know where their wins are going to come from. Like you said, Ecuador versus Senegal will be interesting. Ecuador looked good, but again, the competition, the level that they were playing against was very bad. Anyways. We'll see. This is going to be an interesting one as well

@Taylor Group A Final Matches Preview

However, I'm reading that he is expected to start, he is expected to play in this match. So if you're watching this match, I would highly recommend just really watching intervalencia, see how healthy he is, see what he's capable of in the opening moments, if he's favoring that leg, if he's moving well, and then watch how Senegal actually defends him. I expect them to put bodies on him if he's out there on the field

@Phil

Well, Phil, it looks like the Netherlands guitar game is pretty much over. Don't see any way they're coming back from a two nil law or trailing, rather, Netherlands. They look good. It's a strong team. You know, they've got some really, really interesting players. I keep thinking about Cody Gakpo, who scored again in this game today. Frankie De Jong scored again in this game today. Those two are looking pretty potent at this World Cup between goals and assists

@Taylor Senegal and Netherlands

Little nitpicky. There but I just have to mention that sometimes I just don't think the announcers really know exactly what this game is about. And it seems like they're even more novice fans than I am. But Senegal, Netherlands, through and we're done with group

@Phil

Phil, I don't think you're nitpicking at all. Actually, one of the criticisms I've seen from a lot of fans of this World Cup has been the Fox coverage and the commentators who say a lot of really strange things. That comment about Qatar look, I think Qatar might be the worst international team I've ever seen perform, certainly in my life. They look genuinely awful
