Swell World Cup Preview 2022

article image placeholderUploaded by @Phil
We are less than a week away from the start of the 2022 World Cup, and I, for one, cannot be more excited. We're about to hit be hit with a month of wall to wall soccer action. And I will fully admit I am a very casual soccer fan, but I really love the World Cup. It is just one of the most widely watched sporting events on the face face of the planet

In the case of English players and for example, Argentinian or Brazilian players, nothing is more important to them, really, than representing their country at the World Cup. And so being there, they want to perform at the highest level. And I think that in order to do that, you have to establish some solid camaraderie amongst the group. And that only comes through being friends with one another, training regularly and hanging out when you can

Now, another question that you had was, should we be looking at four years ago? Doesn't matter. And I would say for many reasons it does matter. But like I mentioned earlier, we also have the Euros and the Copa America, for example, as references for competitions that have have happened in recent memory that we can point to and say, okay, this team performed at this level. This was only a short while ago

Just we understand it from an Olympic standpoint, but I think in America, we don't realize just how important soccer is in other countries throughout the world. And, you know, we you think about perhaps the arguably, arguably the greatest player of all time, Pele. He owns three World Cups. And so that really kind of has cemented himself as the goat. He's the only player to accomplish that

This is a match I'm not too excited for although I do think that Ecuador is going to hand Qatar their behind. So it'll be interesting to see the hosting nation lose quite handedly, I think, on the opening day. I think that will happen, but you never know. It is football. Monday is the really interesting day for me because it is the first day that Group B will go head to head
