The concept of Learned Helplessness

article image placeholderUploaded by @Paradox_Knight
What they noticed was that the dogs didn't even try to get to the other side. They just gave up and accepted their fate. We do this to ourselves too sometimes. When we've been through a lot of difficult challenges all at once, we may start feeling like it's never going to get better and things are always going to be bad. We stop trying. But what if I tell you your jump to safety is right here?

This is what really is going to help, even with our children, to bring confidence in them and make them more responsible person when they grow up. All the best

Isha I really appreciate the wonderful message that you have brought with the learned helplessness. This is, I think, a very profound message that you've brought to the swell casters here. I think it really happens. You know, there was another story that said that an elephant is tied when it's a baby with a very thick rope. And then as it grows up, the rope gets thinner and thinner, but the elephant never realizes that it's so much more mightier than that rope

And also, like you mentioned, the sympathy card that a lot of people place that has a lot to do with how they've been brought up and how present their parents and their closed ones were with them. Because if, for example, they never received that kind of attention when they really needed it, they will sort of seek it from other places and it becomes habitual

Hi, Sujit. Thank you so much for your positive response. The elephant story that you mentioned exactly represents learned helplessness, and actually, that was the one I was trying to reference as well. So I'm glad that I was able to post something that was helpful to you and hopefully to others as well. That has always been my topmost priority whenever I post here, and Swell and I also love the community we have here, so that's an additional motivation for me
