On the paradox of love and hatred

Yeah, so it's an unfortunate paradigm, but that's what happens sometimes. People are very caught up in their own way of thinking or their own self righteousness, and they think that everyone else is their adversary. And that's where a lot of these words get really charged. And it leads to a lot of very unfortunate outcomes for everyone, really. Well, what I think of as civilization, especially the higher forms of civilization, they do involve nurturing and protecting that which is beautiful

Paradox

@ozzymendez

As I was listening, I was reflecting on there is a particular person, very public person in the US. That I despise, but I don't wish them ill. And so you might say that I hate this person, though I don't know that I've ever used that word to describe them. But I don't want horrible things to happen to them. And so I wonder there's different kinds of love. There's also got to be different kinds of hate, right?
@SeekingPlumb

@ozzymendez

And I guess maybe to sort of go along with what you said of love and hatred, not being opposite so they can both coexist there's like this hatred of the person. But I love them as a fellow human, as in, I don't want horrible things to happen to them. And I think it's a kind of love of valuing their life while also despising them

You maybe it's it's something like love the sinner, hate the sin. But yeah, I think in my case it's it's simply this usually I hate the ignorance that is that has caused them to do these things but sometimes it's very clear that the person is hurting people, in some cases killing people. Certain world leaders do that and they're going to continue to do that as long as they can
@SeekingPlumb

@ozzymendez

Okay, I'm going to butcher this because it's been a while, but growing up in the religious family, they talked about things like philos eros, and the third one I can't remember, but it's like brotherly love, sexual love

Some of them seem all right, whatever. Some of them are healthy, some of them are not healthy or downright unhealthy. But that's the only real definition I've ever come across, because the rules may be stated, they might be over, they might be implied, but they exist. And and well, it's like they say, things are a lot of things are fundamentally simple, but people complicate them because they don't understand the simple elements of the paradigm
@SeekingPlumb

@ozzymendez

Like, if there can be a sort of spectrum, let's say, of love with this sort of for lack of better language, gatekeeping of filters and boundaries, could there not also be a spectrum of hatred and and the boundaries and filters have more to do with ourselves and maybe how it's interwoven with I mean, I mentioned violence and perhaps there's other things in there, too. I haven't heard of it either

And people are coming around to the idea of holistic medicine and not some weird mystical nonsense. But actually, that one thing. One system is connected to the other in surprising ways. That is something that has been sorely lacking in Western medicine

They just lashed out because they never felt powerful. They never felt like they possessed themselves. And that's really the problem with this. It's not about power. It's what one does with it. And the thing is, everyone has some power. Everyone has some capacity to make a difference in the world. But unfortunately, people don't understand the whole concept. They take the separate parts. Some people, they say, oh, men are dangerous. Okay, that's just wow

And then we have a fever and it's the body's, the microbiome, trying to regulate and fix itself, and then we try to obliterate the fever anyway, he talks about a lot of different things that really highlight to me the nuances complexities of each microbiome. And yet Western medicine attempts to look at every single human as somewhat similar. And there's one size fits all. Almost. Not exactly, but still, this gist of medical doctors having all the knowledge, it drives me nuts

Yeah, there's a quote. I like it's. It says, what do you despise by that? You are truly known. Yeah. For me, it's only cruelty and banality. Now, banality is very subjective, but things I've ugly I don't like, I tend to despise them. In fact, cruelty is one of the ugliest things there is. So, yes, I do tend to despise very strongly despise cruel people. Not that punishment is necessarily cruel

I think it's more frustrating when there's some sort of a connection or relation between me and this other person. So, for example, the autistic quote unquote experts who sort of see us as a petri, dish specimen rather than fellow humans and trying to understand us. I have difficulties with those quote unquote experts because they're not really experts. I also have difficulties with doctors or therapists or anything like that that claims an absolute authority on my human existence. Right. They have expertise, absolutely

Yeah. That is having collaborative conversations with experts is very rare. Too rare, I think. Especially it's interesting, there's a scene in God Emperor of Dune where the God Emperor is talking to two Reverend Mothers, and he said he said, I recognize your gifts. Why do you refuse to recognize mine? Or something like that

But, yeah, it does depend on the situation, and it's important. There's a notion that people have to render a judgment, render an opinion on something. And I've taken to replying that I don't have enough information to have an opinion, except for maybe a sketch. But a sketch isn't good enough, really. It's like asking someone whether they support Israel or Hamas or something like that. Well, I know that's politics, but this is a hypothetical
@SeekingPlumb

@ozzymendez

Selling it, so to speak, of an idea around reputation and status and how they're being perceived, that's something that, regardless of one's intelligence or curiosity, they'll want to buy into, right? And then you can say the path to doing that is curiosity. And then these are the tools to facilitate, to exercise those muscles to become more curious, which can make you be seen as more intelligent
