On empathy

And that usually is accompanied by sympathy. It's almost inconceivable that the sympathy isn't practiced with empathy, but they're not quite the same thing. Yeah, it's a word, as I said, that that's hard to harder to define, because the definition I don't know, there's more than it's not exact

And to me, those things are more destructive and unhelpful than anything. But in order to understand exactly what they're going through when they're talking about something, I have to take into consideration not just the thing that they're experiencing. Not just do the feeling of the empathy or the cognitive aspect of it, but the cognitive aspect of it, including things like the social dynamics and hierarchies and so on

But then when trying to communicate more important ideas or talk about something at some depth, then scripts aren't really appropriate. If I hear someone, I hear people on the Internet cite some of the same sources or go over points I've heard many, many times before. Like, if they're talking about the Constitution, that's really frustrating because it doesn't really matter what's said in it exactly. The interpretations and the applications matter, and that requires legal scholarship
