S1E2 Garage Rock Revival Bands - The Strokes

article image placeholderUploaded by @studio
Classic rock bands like The Who, blues bands out of the Delta. It was just a really neat mix that when you put those together you get a really good garage band. The debut EP from the Strokes was Modern Age, and it featured tracks like Last Night and Barely Legal. Last Night is a song that you could still hear on the radio today. It's in commercials, it's in movies. And it was one of the very first songs they released

Lets discus how The Strokes revived the garage band sound!

I thank you so much for for this subject and I'm looking forward to some of your other swells about the other bands. So when the Se Se se se se se garage rock revival bands graduated high school and I was in college and I wasn't really into these types of bands at the time, the Strokes last night was really popular at MTV. Franz Ferdinand was really popular, would take me out

And I love it when you look at The Black Keys today versus The Black Keys from one of their first albums, rubber Factory or something like that. They're not even the same band. They're the new Rolling Stones now. And it's so crazy to me that they evolved like that. On the other hand, one of the things you bring up, which I totally talk about all the time, is album rock

But I don't think you're ever going to find another album like A Dark Side of the Moon. You're not going to find another Emerson, like in Palmer. All those bands from, like, the early and late 60s. You're you're not going to find, like, that. And, like, what I'm looking for in a band, it doesn't have to be rock

@JordanTepper

He grew up listening to musicals and opera and symphonies. And even if he didn't pick up the guitar until he was 14, 1516 years old, you know, he was playing piano as a kid and he was soaking up that sound of music. You could only hear the hills are alive with the sound of music so many times before. You're like, how do I use this formula in a rock song?

@studio I forgot about MCR and Green Day!

You know what I really did? I forgot about my Chemical Romance and Green Day and I didn't listen to Black Parade when it first came out. It took me a while to get back into the emo scene and I really enjoyed it. It's like one of those albums that can listen to from first song to last song, but you have to really listen to it to actually get the concept of it. And of course, with Green Day, American Idiot

On the other hand, all those bands, Nine Inch Nails in particular, I have friends who would want to throw hands in the driveway if you disparage them. Every single one of those bands has a cult following that just supports that band. And I guess that's what every band needs is a following that's willing to buy your next single or your next album, your next T shirt, your next poster, go to your next show. And that's what it's all about, really
