There are some of the critics that are saying hip hop did a lot for one side of the culture, telling our stories, getting us there. Also, hip hop did a good job on the wealth building and the moving around of generational wealth. So I thought that part was an obvious piece of it. But what of the denigration of women in the language? I am at choice in my word choice

We are intentional with our words, choosing them carefully for maximum impact and clarity.

All right, well, let's take you to the musical journey, then. American hip hop is a uniquely american form of music. It was established in the inner cities, the streets, basketball games, pickup games. Young black men were trying to make music, different music. They couldn't play an instrument, whatever effort. But African Americans, or Africans in general, are resilient in how they make music. No stopping, unstoppable

Don't be nice to people that can only get you a certain way. Be nice to everyone equally. Even your enemies. Treat your enemies like gold. Like I said, I haven't dipped into your premium. Sorry to talk about. I was talking about hip hop. Talk about hip hop influence on white culture. Well, coming from someone who is 38 years old, I missed somebody. There's trap music. There's, like I said, the Migos, all this stuff

But drumming. Jazz drumming. Drumline. Drumline is an incredible movie. I watched that thing when I was in senior in high school. It's a Nick Cannon. Nick Cannon picture. My debate teacher showed it to me. It's an amazing. Know we're mixing cultures. We're getting there. It's hard, though. It's hard for me to talk to you because you sound like you're from, obviously, Connecticut, Maine up there. And you're a Yankee

I'm always very conflicted about that song. There's just something that's catchy about it and like you can't help but enjoy the song, but the lyrics, the lyrics are super stalkery and possessive and so wrong on so many different levels. Speaking of word choice, yeah, conflicted about that song. And so when I hear you say phrase, I am at choice with my word choice

And I am so protective of him right now because he's sweet. I always see a lot of us are one step away from being poor in jail. We're just one step away from things. And we have these young boys, they don't know how to emotionally deal with things, and it's just a cluster. So I need hip hop. I need to understand this language. I need to understand the culture

The issue, though, is that we're so hypersensitive and so much has been eroded in our individual selves that we are going at each other. But I think this is a very important issue, and I have some radical curiosity in this conversation about can the white man do the black art? The thing is, why are the black people not stepping up and doing the art? Nobody's stopping them. So there is that part of the argument

And it's a beautiful piece of work. If you've never sat down and listened to it and explored it, I could talk to you about that for hours. I'm going to write a book eventually one day about it. But, yeah, it's an excellent musical. But you see there, that's a big mix of culture. Those are white historical figures being all replaced and beautifully played by African Americans

So when I stop right there and we talk about the goals, values and desires, that's where we're holding ourselves accountable. It's about us. No deflections, 100% accountability. Everything that happens in my world, I am accountable. And as leaders, and we are all leaders that influence things in our lives. As leaders, we are accountable and we can lead from the middle, the bottom, the top, the side we're always leading

The Man in Black

And then in his first albums, he really trashed his mom, but his mom abused him. Whatever. I think. Whatever. And then it ended up being abused. But he's always rapped about his daughter, Haley. He's grown to be a wonderful father. His daughter's an adult now. And he's just. Eminem is an old man. He's in his fifty s. And these young kids. It doesn't matter. He's already the best

Mac Miller

And then there's Mac. Oh, boy. Mac Miller. Rip, big guy. Still releasing music from beyond the grave. It's pretty crazy. Anyways, Mac Miller, here is the next case. He's what I would refer to, to speak of music. Eminem is the. And Mac Miller is the beethoven of this era. Now that I have your attention, I will give you a lecture on the importance of Mac Miller in hip hop

I guess to put it another way, I'm curious why you didn't use words like agency, or we are quipped or we are empowered or we are accountable for our word choices or anything like that. Why the phrase at choice? Because when I did a Google search of it, just because I was curious of maybe this was an instance where I had not heard those two words put together like that before, but when I did a search for it, there were minimal results that came up
