Ensure that the expansion process is transparent, competitive, and market based to ensure equitable access to all parties. And this one is really important. And I think that we have come a long way with our eastern shore issues. And thank you to former governor Hogan, who began an incredible effort of digital access for all on the eastern shore. And I am happy to say that the Salisbury Area Chamber of Commerce and Governor Hogan, we presented that here on the lower shore

The Salisbury Area Chamber of Commerce sets 2024 legislative priorities and addresses critical issues to support local business growth and prosperity.

Workforce Development

The Salisbury Area Chamber of Commerce also supports increasing the ratio of apprentice per regularly employed journeymen in non building trades. The chamber supports legislation protecting employers from certain liabilities associated with hiring justice engaged, impacted individuals. So this is my world, my mission, where I work. The nine to five inside the nine to five, the mission for vehicles for change. We train folks with a criminal background to become certified auto technicians. That's what we do. Why do we do that?

Energy And Environment Aggressive Timetables, Strains on tbe grid.

Number four on the list, right? Oh, my goodness. It is. Energy and environment. Our chamber supports development of clean and renewable energy sources and transportation initiatives using market based mechanism and incentives and for reasonable timetables. Okay, so we're talking about electric vehicles. We're talking about the climate panic. And the chamber's leadership here is we're going out in front. This is one of our big things

Increasing Childcare Availability

So stressful almost got hit by a train one day going to pick up my son. Yeah. So that story has really helped me in just remembering my priorities and what is important. So increasing childcare availability is what we at the chamber are about. We are 700 members plus strong and growing. Our president is on the Maryland chamber board so that gives us a lot of political will. So increasing availability for childcare is what it's all about for session this year. All right. So keep

Paid Family Medical Leave Insurance Program

If I'm an employer, if I'm an employee, and I might not be one that shows up and works out in the nine to five and so aggressive and passionate, I can just call in and take off and my employer is going to be left strapped and I can get paid and I can just chill out. And we're in that culture. So I mean, don't tell me that folks are not going to take advantage of this

#SalisburyChamber GANJA Legislation

Because I would imagine that you guys are sitting there licking your lips and rubbing your little money hands saying, or maybe it's just business as usual, you have an accident. If there's marijuana in the system, what is the deal there? Who doesn't pay cannabis adult use legalization? Is the conversation so clear direction was provided, and we'll see how that shakes out. I think that that is getting a little normal

Corporations and Business Entities. Combined Reporting and Throwback Rule

So right here, they're looking out for the state on the combined reporting piece. Yeah, so that's what we are looking at. Now, the combined reporting piece is not even close to the remotely related to my strong suit. So I'm going to bring in my tax guy. Oh, my God. Yeah, we'll bring him in for a conversation here, and he'll be happy to get in. And he is also a chamber member there

Transportation and Infrastructure.

I'm going to combine the list of their emails and put it on this soilcast so that we can send information there. And maybe we should just continue this walkout as we go through session or maybe start a new one so we can do updates. Remote work. The General assembly should address the outstanding challenges with nexus and apportionment rules relating to remote work and issue general rules instead of the current temporary guidelines. So remote work there, right

#BeTheBeacon CALL TO ACTION. Transportation solutions. Work, Health, Education.

We're going to get radically curious and have a transportation solution. In fact, I'm going to build an entire swellcast on that transportation piece. My organization, we're training folks with a criminal background. These guys are coming out of jail. We're expecting them to get a job. They don't have vehicles. We have folks that are down in Somerset county, in Worcester county. They don't have vehicles. Worcester county has the summer know we need vehicles

SOLVENCY OF THE MARYLAND UNEMPLOYMENT TRUST FUND /REGULATORY REFORM

Solvency of the Maryland Unemployment Trust Fund. The chamber supports efforts by the state to ensure a healthy balance on the unemployment insurance Trust fund. Any new funding proposal must consider the economic landscape and cost implications for all businesses s regulatory reform. Regulatory reform remains a critical component to attract and retain businesses. It is vitally important that the new administration continues to remove red tape and job killing regulations. Well, I mean, that you have to put in there, I suppose, but I don't see that happening
