I keep you in my pocket

I keep you in my pocket like a lost prayer bead, half forgotten, old and honed, smoothed by repeated thumb and whispered submission. Your warm molecular imbued with a litany of wishes for things to be different. Confessions on repeat, the comforting rub, a salt cure that marinades the flesh or floor and seals in the pain that hides away but is always within reach when you need to feel that flinch

This poem always makes me cry when I hear it. It's as someone who uses prayer beads. The metaphor is just stunning. And the way you run through with such striking imagery, that line of fondling, the heart so charged and then feigning to polish a small marble of hope. It's just brilliant, Nikka. It's just brilliant. This is one of your pieces that always moves me so much

Oh, Arya. I'm trying not to turn swirl into a gush vest. I can't help it. I think there's something so powerful about this kind of voice platform that makes things feel more immediate. And I seem to appreciate you, and I so feel taken under wing by you in this life writing journey. And I look up to you immensely

The ability to just kind of do this, compare, contrast and really lap up the diversity the other has, which I know within yourself or within myself, I think within anybody. You kind of start to feel stale within your own inner poeting style. And so you need things to open you up. And that is just lovely. So how about a poetry takeover? You down. Good times. Good times

I am in awe of both of your work, and I aspire to write more big words. I call them big words, but just expand my vocabulary. And like the hard drive said is I do have a tendency to kind of use some of the same phrases over again, but I greatly appreciate the imagery and the use of words and just the pictures that you are painting. Thank you both

I am slowly going to go through all the poetry that you have on here at An Ek and also all the poetry that Arya has on here. Because it's such a pleasure to hear the two of you recite your pieces in your own way, with your own inflections. And to hear there's just so much in it. All of your poetry, it's just mind boggling

@blairbearing

Hey, Blair. It's lovely to find inspiration in other people's work. I do that a lot. But I would say don't sweat the big stuff. Your expression is so unique to you and so authentic. I kind of aspire to be clearer and more succinct and have more brevity in my work sometimes. But that's the beauty of places like this. That you can be inspired and find ways to enrich your work without losing what makes it unique to you, I suppose
