Mentally Happier : Determinats of Mental health | Episode 2

article image placeholderUploaded by @nayanikapande
Global threats heighten risk for whole populations and include economic downturns, disease outbreaks, humanitarian emergencies and forced displacement, and the climate crisis which is growing. Each single risk and protective factor has only limited predictive strength. Most people do not develop a mental health condition despite exposure to a risk factor, and many people with no risk factor still develop mental health condition. Nonetheless, the interacting determinants of mental health serve to enhance or undermine mental health

Hey, I completely agree with one of the lines that you said, that most people do not develop a mental health condition despite exposure to a risk factor, and many people with no risk factors still develop mental health condition. Well, mental health condition is a very undermined term in the context of India because people do not take mental health very seriously. And even I have seen cases where people isolate or call a person mental or dumb if they have certain kind of mental issues

So thank you so much for putting a highlight on this topic. It is so important to talk on this topic right now with going on instances and circumstances. I would really love to hear from you more in the future. And again, thank you so much for this very important piece of reminder for us

Trauma is the, you know, it is the trigger for most disorders formed out there. Thank you so much for talking about this. Because we often just look at the personal factors as to why a mental health disease is formed or a disorder is formed and we somehow forget about the less privileged part of society whose brains are nurtured in a way where they don't really develop mental health disorders until the situation is that bad that they end up ending their own lives.
