"What does it mean to br a leader in today’s world??

article image placeholderUploaded by @Nadine-Martinez
So my question is this what does it mean to be a leader in today's world? What does it mean, what does it take? How can we describe it? Is it something that is separate from your identity or is your identity you? See, I put a lot of questions there, if only one. But the main question is what does it mean to be a leader in today's world? You. I hope you can join me in the conversation

You. So it's funny you brought up teachers. I'm currently a teacher now, and I think in past roles. Well, when I was younger, leadership opportunities came up and I really didn't take them for the most part. When I say young, I mean as young as high school. I what I found is that part of leadership has to do with optics

@Ara70

When you say that, you seem you have the necessary skills to be a leader and you said something super important, being a boss does not equal being a leader. That's definitely we can lead from whichever position we are. We don't have to be on top of the pyramid or on the top of the organizational shard to be leaders. There's bosses, there's managers, there's leaders. And leaders always take care of people. They are the people they are who reflect on self practices

Also the optics and you brought in the optics of how a leader should present and that may become an issue or difficult thing to wrap around. And yes, leadership, leaders don't necessarily need to look one way or the other. But you brought in social media. Now, leaders, we need to be relevant with the younger generation. I'm a Gen X and I need to find a way to find a ways to communicate a little bit different so they can get the message in various ways

But in roles like this we talked about the Optic, it's important to look like so they have confidence in you. So you kind of have to get even if you're feeling uncertain about something. And this is kind of like an internal moral conflict for me. You can't really show it even if that's not necessarily the most honest thing, that sort of thing. You have to make sure you look like a leader to the point where they have confidence in following you

And by default, I tend not to take those roles. I guess that's an aside. But it is for me to go because I'm not a halfway person. I guess I have three speeds, I just won't do it. I'll do enough or I'll put my all in more into it. And for me to really do there, to do that in those kind of roles with responsibility, I think the compensation needs to match
