Doing it Afraid

article image placeholderUploaded by @Msspaldingfab
Recently, more or less the past couple of years, as I was helping my parents, as I was experiencing the surprise loss of my sister, I found myself asking for help. And I asked for help in like hidden areas, like when I snuck off and went to therapy and nobody knew about it, I really surprised myself. I am always looking to fix something within me by me and never really looked outside for help. I'm going to a part two because I'm already at five minutes

They were the matriarch and the patriarchs of the family, which kind of made me introverted. I was always satisfied with my own company. My mom used to say, growing up, you don't need a bunch of friends. We're a West Indian culture. My mom didn't like us sleeping over anyone's house. She never trusted anybody. She was very protective of her family, which could be a bad thing, but also a good thing

I often question, is there really a soul mate? Is there really a partner? Is there really a partner out there for you? A lifetime partner? Many believe so, some believe not. For me, I believe that there is, but becoming more self aware about the walls that I put up, how I view relationships, very traditional way that I view it, you focus on one person and that's it. Where now I'm experiencing different things

But like you also mentioned, that comes from things in the past. In the past, when I would get emotional or I would speak up, there were things that have happened back then that have me apprehensive to open up to people. I've always been known to fix my own problems. I'll keep it to myself
