The kids were scattered around the room, finding places to be, some on tables, under the chairs, in the hanging coats, behind the beanbags, sitting and laying on the floor wherever their comfort would find them. Most were looking at their books they had chosen for themselves. This was part of the reading curriculum, getting children to stop and look at books. This activity would end when the children would come back together and tell one thing they noticed about their book they had picked
