Hey, swellcast family. Happy Saturday to you. So I've always wondered, what is the actual purpose of a really long engagement? And when I say long, I mean several years engaged. Now the proposal comes, and typically the proposal is the catalyst to the wedding planning. After the proposal is when we start to talk to wedding coordinators and venues and photographers, start looking for dresses and getting all of that wedding day business in place

But that's because it's only six months out. You can plan a good wedding if you have the money and you're not trying to be all extravagant with your wedding. You can plan a good wedding in three months if you have the money. I agree with you. Sometimes I think men propose because the woman is just pushing for the proposal so much, and he knows he isn't ready and he may want to marry her, but he knows he's not ready to marry her right then

And then once we fall off, we just stay off. And then in a few months, we'd be talking about, on Monday, I'm starting over again. And that's kind of how your friends are. It's like, okay, we're going to get engaged. They get engaged, and they act like they're about to get married, and then something falls off, and they don't get married

And I was like, I don't know what she think I'm about to have, but okay. And my mom is Hispanic, so I'm like, I don't know how I've been to one Hispanic wedding. So I was like, But I'm with you as far as I'm concerned. When you propose to me, we can go on over to my pastor house. My pastor got a beautiful house. He got this beautiful stairwell, stairway

I'm like, oh, my gosh. But that's their life. If they like it, I love it. But I believe that when you have an engagement, it should be like marriage is, like, right there

But there is really no rationale for a man to date you for five or six years and not know whether you're his wife or not. Men know early on if you're his wife, and they may not act on it right away. They may have a ring that they're waiting for the right time to propose, but they usually know early on if you're the one or not

I would want a small, intimate wedding. I don't feel like I need no big showcase wedding. I mean, everybody in America doesn't care that I'm getting married, so therefore I don't need this big showcase wedding. I'll be happy to post pictures and all that. But as far as me feeling like I got to have this huge wedding to prove something to someone, I don't. And so I want the people that really love and care about me

And so some people look at engagement as a flex. Like, I'm about to get married, but not really. When you've been rocking that ring for the past two to three years with no date in sight, no wedding plan, no family plan or any of that stuff, you're just rocking a ring just so you can flex. And that's pretty much what it is
