I remember attending a church service and I heard a church leader say that when you are out shopping or dining with your family, that you should pick up your pastor a little something. You should bring him a gift card, you should bring him his favorite dessert. You should think about your pastor when you're out spending time with your family and make sure you grab him something too

And I'm so thankful that the church that I'm in now, that I've been in for the past, I think, almost 14 years now. If it wasn't for Facebook, I wouldn't know my pastor's birthday, and his birthday is like a week before mine, honestly. I just learned that now. But I wouldn't even know it because they don't do the whole pastor anniversary, pastor's birthday, you know, can I get him as his family gift? Absolutely

Or do they have enough ammunition and weaponry that can be used against you that you willingly give your purse? And so I think that when it comes to the cult, let's not victim blame, because people get caught up in this without even realizing what they're in. And like I said, for me, when I was a young woman coming to Christ, I didn't know anything about the church, so I had nothing to compare it to. I didn't know if it felt right

And you have a lot of leaders, unfortunately, that deal with rejection issues, they deal with depression, they deal with loneliness and isolation. They deal with abandonment. And so they want to make up for it in very unusual ways. They want to feel honored because of a brokenness that hasn't been healed on the inside of them. So they want you to kiss the ring, they want you to jump when they say jump

Unfortunately, you have a lot of broken people in the body of Christ and they're looking for these spiritual fathers and spiritual mothers and they're trying to have what they did not have in the natural. And so a lot of people look to this extreme honor as, wow, my pastor is really trying to protect me. My pastor is really looking out for me. My pastor really cares for me. I never had a mom that did this. I never had a dad who did this
