"GATEKEEPING" information that could help others be successful

article image placeholderUploaded by @MsColes77
So just because you give me the information doesn't necessarily mean I'm going to become an overnight success. Based on the tips that you gave me, I still have to execute. And let's also be real. Most people that get that type of advice don't really do much with it. They'll listen. They'll listen, they'll take notes, they may even read the book

And because my husband and I went through it with the IRS before and have got over that hump, I was able to give her helpful information about how to fill out her w four s the next time and how to file taxes the right way, that type of thing. Because personally, I don't want nobody else to go through that, getting their money slammed out of the account and everything like that because of something that we weren't paying attention to. So I was happy to give that information

That gatekeeping thing

I want them to have the information they can't have to succeed, and then I want them to think well of me. So when it comes around, when I'm trying to share a book, they'll share it, too. I imagine it could work that way in coaching, but this is a great topic. Gatekeeping is frustrating and kind of ridiculous, especially when it's such how to make your social media take off, how to make your Instagram take off. What did you do?

If you were blessed enough to have somebody mentor for you, or if you were blessed to be able to acquire this information through your own research, then you did not pay a premium for it, but yet you want to charge me a premium for it. And, yeah, it's a whole I know something you don't know attitude that seems to prevail on social media. I know something you don't know. And if you want to know bad enough, you'll pay

@Isoellen

Hello, Iso Ellen. I agree with you 100%. I love how you said, I want them to think well of me, and to me, that is important. I don't want anyone to remember me as someone who would not help them, because they're going to remember that longer than they're going to remember that I actually did help them

And I even talked about it on here because I realized a lot of people have trouble self publishing their book and they don't know the ins and outs. I'm still learning the ins and outs, but I know there are people out there who have a story in their heart and they want to be able to tell it. And I wanted to just give them another option, because self publishing is an option, just like submitting your work to a publisher is another great option, too
